Serena Scoccimarro moved to New York in 2006 with her 6 year old son Riccardo and 3 year old daughter Margherita. Until then, they had been living in Milano, speaking only Italian and surrounded by a flock of devoted grandparents, aunts and uncles who spoiled them as only an Italian family could. In their new life in the States, this family nest wasn't there anymore, but Serena was determined to keep her children's Italian roots alive. She taught them how to read and write in Italian and passed on Italian traditions and culture, which they have been proud to share with their new friends in New York.

Inspired by having raised a bilingual family and thanks to her experience leading creative bilingual workshops, Serena founded Casetta Ida.  She designs programs  for students of all ages and all levels of language.
